Friday Revision Homework - Stitches 166 - 170

 Wow this was fun!

Sunbonnet Sue was so fed up with the pandemic and really wanted to celebrate that she has been vaccinated against Covid-19 and can now travel safely.

She went to a Pacific island paradise and danced till sunset.

Please note that she is decent underneath her straw skirt. She IS wearing her Croatian bikini bottoms!

I would like to say Thank You to Sarah Aldrich who came up with the idea of using the Fringed Buttonhole Stitch for a hula skirt.

Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 166 - 170

 Time to review stitches 166, 167, 168, 169 and 170.

166 Satin Herringbone Stitch

This stitch looks very similar to 170 Danish Cross Stitch, but is worked very differently.

167 Fringed Herringbone Stitch

Thanks to Sharon Boggon of Pintangle and TAST, we have this charming variation of Herringbone Stitch.

168 Croatian Stitch

A kind of laced Running Stitch, where you are supposed to fill in a space.

169 Kerman Stitch

This is a beautiful stitch, traditionally used on Persian shawls.

170 Danish Knotted Cross Stitch

A cross with a knot, there are many stitches similar, like 43 Moss Stitch, but this is an easy one.

Friday Homework for Lesson 166: Satin Herringbone Stitch

 This was fun! You can be tricked into believing this is not based on Herringbone Stitch.

Here the Satin Stitch has a gap, I think if I do this stitch again on Aida I will use a sharp needle and make another Satin Stitch in the middle, too.

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 166: Satin Herringbone Stitch

The first in a new set of five stitches is a variation of the Herringbone Stitch. It is overstitched, or couched down, with Satin Stitch. As I have found no official name I will call it Satin Herringbone Stitch. Leave a comment if you know the real name, please.

First stitch a row of Herringbone Stitch.

Turn the work upside down and work another row - mirrored.

Anchor the last stitch.

Come up where the arrow is, go over the crossed threads and go down on the other side.

Make three or four stitches before moving to the next cross.
