Friday Revision Homework - Stitches: 176 - 180

The last Sunbonnet Sue Sampler I made was a sunbonnet.

This time, for the most recent five stitches, I wanted to put them in a similar sampler - a bonnet. This bonnet is not for sheltering Sue from the sun though, but from prying eyes. I made a mourning hat where the Fancy Stitch would make a good veil.

The pandemic is far from over,  too many people across the Globe have been devastated by the high death toll, too many people have lost a loved one, too many people have wanted to put on morning wear but not been able to attend funerals or take a proper farewell.

This mourning hat is a symbol of this sadness and sorrow.

176 Buttonhole Cross Stitch

This stitch was found in a Scandinavian book and I have never seen it anywhere else. It is easy and looks good, too.

177 Double Seed Stitch

Surely this is one of the easiest stitches there is - just make one Seed Stitch next to another!

178 Floating Loop Stitch

This stitch, however, is far trickier, both while you stitch it and afterwards, as it is so easy to pull it out of shape by mistake. It looks neat, though.

179 Double Pekinese Stitch

Once again, here is a double stitch. It is easy, and actually sits better than the single Pekinese Stitch.

180 Fancy Stitch

Want to fill an area? Then here is one stitch you could try - Fancy Stitch.  It is easy to mistake it for Cloud Filling (which is a TAST stitch), but there is a difference in the foundation stitches which makes the overall look slightly wonky.

Where to find nice stitches? Well, in the Stitch Dictionary at Pintangle, of course!

Today's stitch at Sunday Stitch School is called Double Seed Stitch. It is easy enough to understand for those who know the Seed Stitch - just double it.

Another name is Single Back Stitch.

First make a single Seed Stitch, and then add one more next to it, or even sharing the same holes.

One is just not enough, is it?
