Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 241 - 245
Sue! Sue! Sunbonnet Sue! Where are you? It is time for you to come out from the shadows... Let's repeat the following Sunday Stitch School's stitches and then make a summery sampler:

A Rhodes type of stitch, that could be used for birds, butterflies as well as Bow Ties.
I really like this Wheatear stitch variation. Double beauty!

Friday Homework for Lesson 244: French Cretan
I don't know if I should admit to it, but I don't really like the look of this stitch!
From blog readers I have got several suggestions: it is a row of supermarket trolleys, they are the tops of some columns, they are computer symbols...
To me a row of these stitches makes me think of pulled-out teeth! Some poor fellow has had most of his molars removed by Dr Pullman!

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 244: French Cretan Stitch
Cretan Stitch, in its simple version, is one of the basic hand embroidery stitches. Look at these pictures and I am sure you recognise the Cretan Stitch.
The needle goes up and down alternatively.
The stitch we are going to learn today is a version of this basic stitch, made quite complicated. You have to pay attention and concentrate - at least till you have got into the rhythm.
At Sarah's Hand Embroidery Tutorials, I found French Cretan Stitch. It is an unusual-looking stitch, wouldn't you say?
