Friday Revision Homework - Stitches: 266 - 270

When I showed Sunbonnet Sue the Donut Drizzle Stitch she cried out for a donut, or two, or three... So I thoughtlessly gave her a couple, and then I regretted my weakness. Seeing her gobbling the donuts I realised she might have a kind of eating disorder..., and that maybe this was the wrong way to treat a teenager... Then again how many teenagers have you met screaming for lettuce or gobbling carrots?

I comfort myself with the fact that she has shed her puppy fat and hope she will keep healthy once this donut craze turns out to be just a passing fad.

Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 266 - 270

Here is a summary of the latest group of five stitches. Click on the title to see the instructions.

266 Laced Back Stitch

It is so nice to add something to a basic stitch! This is an easy addition.

267 Plaited Stitch

This stitch was easier to do than I first thought. It looks especially good when worked in contrasting colours or types of thread.

268 Donut Drizzle Stitch

It's a beautiful stitch, but a bit tricky to give it a perfect shape. It's delicious, though!

269 Queen Stitch

Easily made on Aida, you will get this even result.

270 Spaced Buttonhole Filling Stitch

This is another basic stitch that looks upgraded simply because of a small adjustment, in this case, the spacing.

Homework: Let Sunbonnet Sue illustrate the five stitches.

I have a busy week ahead of me and won't be able to complete this homework, nor the WIP report, by next week. The last block on the Green Man Quilt will also be lurking in the shadows for a while more. See you in a fortnight.

Friday Homework for Lesson 267: Plaited Stitch

This was so much fun I could not be satisfied with only one sample, as can be seen

on the Mottled Wool Scribble Cloth.

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 267: Plaited Stitch

Welcome.

Today let's do some weaving. Here is a nice stitch from Shannon of Badasscrossstitcher, the Plaited Stitch. Follow her clear tutorial here.

Or have a look at my photo instructions.

Here I used thick wool yarn for the weft, and it gives a very different look.

Homework:

Weave some magic on these samplers.
