Freeform Embroidery
Here we have: Raised Cup Stitch, Loopy Flower Stitch and Whipped Chain Stitch.

Crazy for Crazy
The support fabric is on, so I can safely put the block in a hoop.
A length of ribbon was ruched along one of the seams.

Log Cabin Challenge

9 new blocks were made, all in teal (no pinks).

Total number of blocks is now 46.

Dorset Button

Just for the fun of it, I made another Dorset button. It is worked around a pendant ring, so all I need is a chain or cord and this will become a necklace.

I get instructions and inspiration for these buttons from Elizabeth Healey's book 'Stitch, Fabric & Thread'.

Dorset Buttons
In a craft shop I found these rings with a loop - perfect for making pendants. So I made a number of Dorset Buttons as gifts. I really love making these in all sorts of forms.

WIPW - The Fragrance of Lavender

It was my intention to have much more to report on Work In Progress Wednesday.
The heat, the humidity, the disastrous 21st typhoon, in English named Jebi, as well as a truck-load of other obstacles have had a negative impact on my progress.

I had to make a special
Birthday Card
and made one based on the instructions in Sachiko Morimoto's book:


This time I selected the lavender.

Making all those purple Bullion Knots took up a lot of time, but I am pleased with the result.

Crazy for Crazy

I just added five lines of Sunday Stitch School #46, Corded Coral Stitch.

 I placed the new Dorset Button I made on top of the block.

By next week WIPW I hope to have added some beads, sequins and other 'bling'.

WIPW - Gilded Ruby

Work In Progress Wednesday for today shows progress on

Crazy for Crazy
where the red ruby fabric is getting gilded.

I made the Kumihimo braid longer than needed and tied up the end into a knot.

 I ruched some areas on a red silk ribbon (to make 'carnations') and then stitched an undulating length of golden Chain Stitches.
Sunday Stitch School's delightful Detached Twisted Chain Stitch was stitched into a star with a red bead in the centre.
Two curves of Shell Chain were stitched, and a Laced Herringbone row.
Then I made a Dorset Button. Oh, this was fun! I will love making more, and more advanced ones for future cq blocks. I first got my inspiration from Elizabeth Healey's book Stitch, Fabric & Thread, but there are instructions in many other books too, and of course online. This link goes to a video tutorial.

I hope to have more progress next Wednesday.
