Friday Revision Homework - Stitches 221 - 225

Friday No, Saturday Revision Homework. It is past midnight here in Tokyo, and I didn't make it in time to hand in my homework on a Friday. Well, it can't be helped...

A typhoon is approaching and the rain is pelting down. In the homework picture, rain is falling on Sunbonnet Sue, too. I guess tears are also falling from her eyes.

In recent months so many of us have lost someone, be it a beloved Queen, a politician with diplomatic skills extraordinaire, a heroic soldier, a victim of flooding, a reluctant soldier, a small child swept away in torrential rain, a tortured civilian, or in my case, a family member passing quietly...

Apart from these five stitches, I have used Stem Stitch and Running Stitch.

Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 221 - 225

Recently Sunbonnet Sue was gardening. Now it is time for her to illustrate another summery of five stitches, namely:

221 Sarah's Triple Chain Stitch (click the title to see instructions)

A fancy way of using 3 x Chain Stitch!

222 Detached Chevron Stitch

When the Chevron Stitch is done as an individual stitch it looks rather different - and striking.

223 Whipped Fly Stitch Wheel

A Whipped Wheel based on the Fly Stitch will give you this decorative emblem-like stitch.

224 Guilloche Stitch

Stem Stitch + Threaded Satin Stitch + French Knot = Guilloche Stitch!

225 Overlaid Threaded Chain Stitch

This is easy, fast and attractive. Your tricky threads can come out to play, especially if the loops in your  Chain Stitch base are large.

Homework:

Make a scene with Sunbonnet Sue to showcase these five stitches.

Friday Homework for Lesson 222: Detached Chevron Stitch

So easy and quick, yet this is a nice-looking stitch.

The Detached Chevron Stitch makes me think of alphabetic letters, fonts and graphic designs.

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 222: Detached Chevron Stitch

Welcome to stitch 222 - isn't it amazing that we have found so many stitches? Partly it is because we are using variations of basic stitches. Today's stitch is just such an alternative, the detached version of Chevron Stitch.

I found it at Fa's Kitchen, have a look at Fareeha's instructions here.

This is my photo tutorial for Detached Chevron Stitch:

This should be easy and quick.

Homework:
Sprinkle the samplers with Detached Chevrons.
