Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 201 - 205

Take some time and repeat stitches 201 to 205. Click on the title to go to the instructions.

201 Italian Knot Stitch

An instant favourite, a great stitch I picked up on an Indian blog.

202 Fly Stitch with Twisted Ties

This stitch comes from the same source as 201.

203 Pariser Stitch

If you ever want a 'Buttonhole Stitch' that sits still in a straight jacket, try this one.

204 Mountmellick Thorn Stitch

This is a unique stitch, but a bit fiddly, as it contains a French Knot.

205 Glove Stitch

This one, however, is everything but fiddly. It's easy-peasy, and looks grand to glove boot.

Homework:

Let Sunbonnet Sue have a say with these five stitches.

Friday Homework for Lesson 203: Pariser Stich

Stitching the Pariser Stitch has a nice flow to it, and I like that the stitches 'behave' and sit still. This is nice to know when you compare it to the traditional Buttonhole Stitch,  which, although very easy and fast, has a tendency to lift at the base.

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 203: Pariser Stitch

It was at Fa's Kitchen that I found Pariser Stitch. There are photos, step-by-step pictures and a video.

The completed stitch might look like a Buttonhole Stitch, but as it is made up of Straight Stitch x 2, and both are anchored, Pariser Stitch sits better than the Buttonhole Stitch.

For me it was easier to stitch downwards, as you can see from my pictures. Compare them with the stitch direction in the link above.

Then you can turn the work and get the 'right' direction.

Homework:
Add Pariser Stitch to these three samplers.
