Let's play with two threads! First make three lines of Back Stitch, then take another thread, preferably contrasting, and whip the stitches. Follow the instructions below.

Start with a line of Back Stitch.
Make two more lines parallel to the first one.
Change to a contrasting colour, come out from the bottom right,
go underneath the stitches of two lines of Back Stitch (without biting the fabric).
Repeat with two stitches.
Anchor underneath the last stitch, then come out on
the line of Back Stitch above.
Turn the work around.
Repeat the whipping work.
Anchor at the end of the line.
If you have not already done so, please check out
Sharon's stitches on Pintangle (see link above) where
she has worked longer Back Stitches and pulled the
whipping thread harder. The look is quite different.
This is a versatile stitch.
I hope my homework will be better!

Now this wasn't at all the stitch I was expecting, but intriguing and potentially useful, too!
A good filler I think.
So many ways you can use whipping.
That stitch looks like a math problem to me. I know I would get lost doing that.
That is an interesting stitch, but looks a little difficult to keep track of.
