Look at the difference on
Crazy for Crazy
Last week
and this week
There is a pile of purple beads in the piece in the middle.
There is some metallic thread on the lace flower
There is a 'worm' of kumihimo braid on the circle of visible mending
The Kumihimo braid was made on a foam disc with 8 strands of variegated perle, (that is the first tail that comes off the disc, for the second part, in the working, I have added another 8 threads to make it a thicker 16-thread braid to be used on another project.)
Next week I will be putting on a bias tape edge around the octagon.

Yes, coming together very well. Kumihimo and other braiding techniques are very useful to the embroiderer!
I love making braids and other ornamental things. Have just sorted out the colours for the next block and the braid that will go into that.
Your piece is beautiful. I have been meaning to try making this braid for a long time. It stil scares me.
Love the additions. At first I thought the kumihimo was an elongated Buttonholing. I enjoy seeing various patterns evolving when braiding. The hexagonal is looking prettier each day.
That looks like quite a process to make a Kumihimo braid, good work!
I like the addition of metallic thread on the flower and the sparkly bead group.
Say yes to sparkle.
Good progress Queenie.
The metallic thread makes a big difference to the lace flower. The Kumihimo disk looks like it is complicated to use with all the different threads on it.
Iti is SUPER EASY!!!!
Braidmaking is a smart way to use up odd bits of thread - they need to be long enough though to reach over the disc with a bit of extra on both ends.
It is a very easy braid, just go round, round, round....
I am astonished at all comments that kumihimo looks difficult. I will have to make a blog post to prove it is easy-peasy.
This is gorgeous. I have one of the kumihimo discs but haven't used it in ages.
Absolutely gorgeous! What a beauty.
My disc had been slumbering, too, but the cq blocks are the perfect place for a bit of braid, so I will be making more.
This block is absolutely gorgeous!
Thank you. The next block will be in red.
Wow! You do kumihimo too! Impressive! It looks so complicated but it must be oh so satisfying! The crazy piece is fascinating!
THIS pattern is easy. Then on the other hand, I think tatting looks so complicated and yet you can whip up bookmarks, necklaces and crosses in your sleep!
