Work In Progress Wednesday - Completion

For this week's WIPW I have a completion to report. The crazy quilt is now hanging on my wall. The last step was, apart from attaching a hanging sleeve, to add Beaded Hedebo Edge stitches, well, to the edge.

It has been great fun to make this wall hanging. It measures 50 x 50 cm and that qualifies it to go to Yokohama for the Miniature Contest in November.

I have used fabric scraps from my stash, from charity bags, from friends, there are ribbons, trims and a friendship bracelet cord. Several ornaments I have picked up since summer and a handful of beads. The  middle is quite glittery with plenty of colour and ornaments. The edge is in muted colours and many TAST stitches. The Beaded Hedebo Edge is worked in #20 jeans thread - I had a reel I wanted to use up and that kind of thread was perfect for this particular stitch.

Work In Progress Wednesday - Almost there

Well, I am almost at the final stage of completing the little crazy quilt.

Since last week I have added the following to the border:

1) a wide edge in dark green batik
2) a line of running stitches, laced with greyish-blue chenille thread
3) another round of glittery trim
4) a line of wobbly Basque stitches
5) purple ric-rac fastened with Herringbone stitches

I want to add some beads and then start the edging. Then I will take a look and see if it is time to say, 'Finished'.

What to do with 'snow fabric'

Some snow in Tokyo is still glistening, now in the glow from the street lamps. However, most roads are free from snow, but icy and slippery.

The beautiful white fabric sprinkled with silver paint that I showed in my last blog post was used for one of the Christmas cards I made in December.

This was a feeble attempt at Chris Richard's tutorial.

Well, never mind, at least the fabric is pretty!

Heavy Snow in Tokyo

We had some heavy snow in Tokyo yesterday. Traffic came to a standstill. It was bright. It was quiet. It was magical.
This morning the sun is shining and everywhere the melting snow is glistening. It made me think of this piece of fabric.
