WIPW - The Birthday Card

The birthday card I made last week but was not able to show is included in this week's Work In Progress Wednesday report.

Birthday Card

Over the years I have been given a lot of fabric, felt and beads by the lady I made the card for. It felt natural to make a few flowers from some of those things, especially for this lady. The bouquet is tied together with a bow of furry yarn, which was a leftover from one of my mother's knitting projects. I love making something useful and or beautiful with even the smallest scraps.

Hexablooms
Many more empty food packages were cut into hexagon cards. Many more pieces of fabric scraps were ironed and cut into squares, then stretched and basted over the cards.
Five more flowers, or grey weeds, were stitched together so the total is now 25.

Mandala
I was happy to take up work on the Mandala again. So far I have only sketched a heart. The next step is to find a good piece of fabric for the applique and then decide how to embellish the appliquéd patch.

Sunday Stitch School Stitch Sampler

Three lines of #293 Laced Arrowhead Stitch, Version 1 were added. I used Chenille thread for the lacing. It was perfect as this thread is so difficult to pull in and out through the fabric.

I’m sure the birthday card was appreciated very much. You have some pretty fabrics to use for your hexagons!

You can see how many projects are progressing carefully. That's very wonderful. Birthday cards are also very nice.
