Inside a frame are four hand embroidered thimbles. Yes, they are made from silk and with very fine embroideries.
THESE thimbles are displayed in the frame, but real thimbles that are used in Korean needlework and quilting look the same.

I can understand not using the beautiful gift but such a joy to display. They must take quite a bit of time to create. I used the link to read about the thimbles and some of the other links. I'll visit again to read more.

I bought some of these in Korea when my husband was working there back in the 1990's. I could not believe the detail and work that went into these thimbles. I wondered if they were just for decoration but was told that they worked very well as a thimble.
Beautiful thimbles! I haven't seen the Korean work before... I was looking at the Kanazawa thread thimbles and have been resisting the temptation to try and make one of those... thimble work must be very small and fine!
