Friday Revision Homework - Stitches 331 - 335

I'm sorry I'm posting this a day late. I have now recovered from the involuntary 'glue sniffing'caused by yesterday's maintenance work in my home.

Here is the Sunbonnet Sue revision homework for stitches 331 - 335.

The Hungarian Braid Chain can be so snakelike, I decided to use this stitch for a snake tattoo on Sue's back.

Her coiffure is also made up of this stitch. 

The mirror frame has Damask Darning carvings.

Sue's towel has a Pachis Work pattern and an Astrakhan Velvet frilled border.

Sue's knickers are broderie anglaise cotton, and her earrings dangling stars. Both knickers and earrings are worked in Irregular Algerian Eyelet Stitch.

Friday Revision Homework - Stitches 251 - 255

Today Sunbonnet Sue learned a painful lesson.  NEVER eat an ice cream cone while trying to chase butterflies!

Other stitches used are Stem Stitch and Outline Stitch. It is not clear, but I tried to use Annet's Pulled Triangle Stitch for the ice cream cone.

Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 251 - 255

 Whose feet are these?

Yes, you guessed it! They are of course Sunbonnet Sue's feet. 

This means it is time to review stitches 251 to 255 and then make a Sunbonnet Sue sampler.

251 Frilled Buttonhole Stitch

Perfect for beautiful flower petals.

252 Annet's Pulled Triangle Stitch

Although this is a pulled stitch, it looks good as a triangular filling stitch, too.

253 Pachis Work

We have learned several beautiful Indian stitches before. Here is another one, one that can be the building block in many geometric patterns.

254 Alternating Mountmellick Stitch

This is a mirrored version of the lovely Mountmellick Stitch.

255 Mirrored Chevron Stitch

Another stitch that gives a nice mirror image is the traditional Chevron Stitch.

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 253: Pachis Work

Today we have an Indian stitch used for Pachis Work. It is a double cross with a small cross in the middle.

Learn it at Sadala's Embroidery, or follow my photo instructions.

Stitch by number:

Out at 1, in at 2 and so on.

The red dots are for the 

small cross in the middle.

At this stage it looks very wonky.

Don't worry, you are on the right way.

Voila! There you are!
