Taking a cue from that Chain Stitch variation, I made a new kind of Split Stitch in two colours.
So Sunday Stitch School's stitch of the week is 119 Alternating Magic Split Stitch. Have you seen this stitch before? Do you know of an official name?
You start with two threads of different colours in your needle.
Take a Back Stitch between the two threads, 'splitting' them.
Before you make a new stitch, switch the threads over.
Make a new stitch.
By coming out inside the chain of the previous stitch, you get a Split Stitch.
Continue.
Alternate the colours, and Hey Presto, the magic look appears.
Homework:
Add some magic to these samplers:
Next week Sunday Stitch School will work on the 'un-alternating' Magic Split Stitch.

That is a nifty stitch.
That looks like an easy one with interesting results.
Yes, it looks like magic.
It makes a very pretty stitch
Ooh, this has possibilities, doesn't it!
It looks like a very fine braid. The effect with two colours is pretty.
That is so clever; simple, but brilliant! I'm definitely going to try it.
