Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 118: Lazy Daisy Picot Stitch

A warm welcome to the first lesson of 2020 here at Sunday Stitch School.

Let's make another variation of the Lazy Daisy Stitch, which I found in Totstuka Embroidery Stitch Book 8.
This stitch resembles the previous one, 117 French Knotted Lazy Daisy Stitch, but instead of a little French Knot it has a plump picot made up of three Chain Stitches.

Updated: Once again this is a stitch without a name in Ms Totsuka's book. My suggestion is Lazy Daisy Picot Stitch, but am open to change if you know of an established name.
Mattia suggests Point de Bouclette or Point de Marguerite avec Picot in French.

Look at the pictures, and you will understand:

First make a single Chain Stitch
1

Then make another Chain Stitch, but without biting any of the fabric
2

Within that 'air' Chain make another,
3

and another,
4

until you have a tail of three Chains
5

Anchor the tail in the same hole as the thread came out from in picture 2
6

You now have a nice plump picot at the bottom of the Lazy Daisy Stitch.
7

Homework:
Add Lazy Daisy Picot stitches to these three samplers

This is a cute stitch! I think I like the 3 chain picot more that the knot.

Bonne année à tout le monde
En français je dirais :

- point de bouclette ou point de marguerite avec picot

Voilà

That's sweet - and great for texture!

The stitch looks like an earring. The difference between the knot and the 3 chain picot is subtle.
