In this section, I will show a few quilts by teachers and famous quilters.
上田葉子*Yoko Ueda
Ms Ueda has an education in Art and Design and always produced the most stunning quilts, perfectly colour-coordinated and with beautiful angles and curves.
野沢典子*Noriko Nozawa
(detail of unusual lace)
Her quilts often feel layered, with two pictures in one, this one had a background of oddly shaped pieces (crazy quilt style) and on top of that these leaves.
I am so angry with myself for not taking a picture of the whole quilt.
中島キャシー*Kathy Nakajima
is an expert on Hawaiian quilts.
It is unusual to see black in a Hawaiian quilt, Julie thought it might be a no-no colour.
When looked into the light green leaves that are in the shade would appear very dark, so that is the image I get from this quilt - dazzled by the bright sunlight.
郷家啓子*Keiko Goke
Ms Goke's quilts are easy to spot, always colourful, whimsical and full of various prints. She also adds hearts, circles, cacti or flowers and gives messages of love and peace.

That lace is really interesting.
The lacy leaf quilt is one of my favorites in this show.
I am very intrigued by the lace. And yes, the brights against black does feel very much like looking at sunset through woodland.
Ms. Goke's quilts make me smile.
