Today I picked a stitch from Badasscrossstitch.com, Half Rhodes Stitch. You can see the instructions here. This stitch is also listed in The Embroidery Stitch Bible and in Mary Thomas's Dictionary of Embroidery Stitches
Half Rhodes is a nice stitch, on canvas, or any other fabric with a clear grid. It fans out beautifully and adds movement. To top it, it is an easy stitch, and fast.
You need a grid like this:
Go from 1 to 2.
3 to 4, and so on.
Here are the photos.
One complete stitch.
Work the next one half way up.
Homework:
Add this stitch to the usual three samplers, use waste canvas where needed.
Also fill a square of the Canvas Sampler.

It is a nice even stitch on a counted ground.
I love the look of this stitch! I hardly ever work on any kind of gridded cloth. I don't imagine I would be able to do it on regular fabric. I don't line things up well at the best of times!
What a truly attractive and easy to do, stitch. I have now, 2 catch-up stitches to make
Rhodes stitch and its various variants always remind me a little of the string pictures of the 1970s, except that they are all much more textural.
Your Rhodes Stitches are beautiful clustered together like that.
Nice work.
