How can time fly so fast? Has it anything to do with the heat? Once again Wednesday is upon me all of a sudden! Luckily I have some progress to show.
Sunday Stitch School Stitch Sampler
#163 Canvas Stem Stitch (turquoise and brown) and #54 Tramming (red is worked with Tent Stitch and green with Cross Stitch).
The first thing I did was to baste guidelines radiating from the centre outwards to the edges of the velveteen.
Next, I appliquéd a turquoise 'yolk' to a raspberry pink and gold circle. This 'sunny-side-up' is now basted in the centre of the quilt and will be from where all sorts of things sprout.
I guess there will be a lot of embroidered appliqué and bias tape, braids and braid stitches...The velveteen measures 90 cm x 125 cm, (or app 35" x 49" if that is a more familiar measurement).
Although this is a mandala, it will not be a round quilt, or a square one. Let's say the mandala will be floating inside a rectangular world...

It is certainly a good start - that velveteen makes a much better basis for the stitching than I might have expected!
New beginnings are always exciting.
Looks interesting...all kinds of possibilities.
Such a good start! The radiating basted stitches is a good idea.
Velveteen is so pretty. You’ve made a lot of progress.
