Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 235: Barred Herringbone Stitch

For fans of the Herringbone Stitch, here is a version for you. Personally, I like its hidden Ms and Ws!

I found the stitch at Arts & Design where there is a simple and clear stitch graph. 

Or have a look at my photo instruction:

First, make a row of Herringbone Stitch.



Now use Straight Stitch to make vertical stitches. 

I have used a contrasting colour for clarity.






You can also keep using the same thread, and 

colour, of course.

It would be a good stitch in an embroidery quiz. When it's worked in a single colour, it looks nothing like herringbone stitch.
