Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 156 - 160

First of all A Happy St Valentine's Day to all.

I made this 19 years ago. I followed the instructions in Elly Sienkiewicz's book 'Appliqué 12 Easy Ways'.

........................

Here at Sunday Stitch School we have learned another five stitches so it is time to review. Click on the title to see how to do them.

156 Hyacinth Stitch

Thanks to Rachel's clever stacking of stitches we have the beautiful Hyacinth Stitch.

This is a real nice stitch, it has already become a favourite of mine.

This 'cousin' of the last stitch has the look of a winged insect.

159 Invented Stitch (Slashed)
Another 'cousin'.

Here is a stitch that could be a flower, a pine cone or a raspberry, or ....

Homework.
Be inspired by the stitches to make a Sunbonnet Sue.
I have taken the help of crayons and a molding mat.

Here we go again, another version of the Invented Stitch, found at Arts & Design.

In this alternative, the result looks slashed.

WIPW - Start the Engine

It is time to start the engine again after a long rest at the end of last year. Here is the first Work In Progress Wednesday report for 2024.

Mandala

I have begun to add Colonial Knots in a fine metallic thread. I do this instead of adding beads - I want the glint and sparkle but I don't want the tricky beadwork just yet. Beads will eventually be added to the Mandala but at a later stage.

First I attached a piece of waste canvas and with the help of that grid I added the following stitches, from top left:
#159 Invented Stitch (Slashed) (pink), #214 Threaded Blanket Stitch (green and yellow), #121 Point á la Minute Stitch (green), #226 Badass Star Stitch (yellow) and #107 Tvistsöm (diagonal) (purple).

There is space for more stitches on the canvas, so check them out next Wednesday.

Friday Homework for Lesson 159: Invented Stitch (Slashed)

I have already done the two other version of this stitch, therefore a third type was not difficult.

It might be difficult to keep the three of them apart, but I hope the description (Cross), (Half-Cross) and (Slanted), will remind me of the look.
