WIPW - Next is Midnight Purple

I guess I am boring you with the usual projects, but I do have a new crazy quilt block among the Work In Progress Wednesday this week.

First let's look at the

Freeform Embroidery
I added Twisted Shell Chain, Detached Up and Down Buttonhole Stitch and a larger Chemanthy circle.

Crazy for Crazy
Well, I haven't started stitching, but decided on Midnight Purple for the next octagon block.

Log Cabin Challenge

Seven seams (indicated in yellow in the picture below) were embellished with Buttonhole Picot Bullion, Zig-zag Coral, Lace, Open Chain, Detached Twisted Chain, Fishbone and Knotted Sheaf stitches.

9 new blocks were made so the total is now 90.

Sunday Stitch School - Revision: Stitches 131 - 135

131 Interlaced Cross Stitch
Beautiful as a stand alone stitch, or made into an intricate pattern - Indian Kutch embroidery.

132 Dandelion Stitch
Easy and charming.

133 Sinhalese Stitch
This stitch from Sri Lanka looks like a wrapped Open Chain Stitch, but is worked differently.

134 Slanting Blanket Stitch
The name says it all, or should we describe it as an Italic Blanket Stitch?

135 Net Stitch
One of many filling stitches, this makes a nice fishing net, after all, fishing nets ARE knotted!

Homework:
Make a picture of Sunbonnet Sue using the five stitches.
How about something based on this sketch?

Friday Homework for Lesson 135: Net Stitch

A good stitch to fill an empty space. Choose a thread with a good twist, like Perle.

Crazy for Crazy
Can you spot the difference? What changes and additions have I made?


Yes, the green bow in the top left was too off-colour. I replaced it with a needle woven button, topped with a sequin and bead. Beads were also added on the velvet braid.

Is this block finished, or just nearing the end?
