Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 378: Raised Chevron Stitch

Once again, we will learn a stitch that has a 'twin' that we have met before.

In 2018, we learned #72 Sham Hem Stitch. It's made up of several V-shaped stitches joined into a long VVVVVVVVVVVVVV seam. Over this, another thread is laced/raised, creating a beautiful band.

Today, about 300 stitches later, we will look at #378 Raised Chevron Stitch.

Just like in the twin stitch, we have V-shapes, but they are spaced, staggered and alternated straight up and upside down. Like this:

So let's do the whole photo tutorial:

Next, the lacing:

Change to a contrasting thread (here aqua). 

Come out from the left.

Insert the needle right to left, under the purple thread,

without biting the fabric. Make sure the aqua thread goes up.

Follow the photos and pay attention to the red

arrow.

Finally, anchor the aqua thread.
