Friday Homework for Lesson 366: Spider's Web Stitch

Oh, this is a wonderful stitch. Some have commented that the Spider's Web Stitch make up a beautiful rose, especially when the weaving is done with embroidery ribbon.

That is absolutely correct, and actually, I already have in Sunday Stitch School's collection a similar rose - namely #249 Fly Stitch Rose.

The weaving is done in the same way for both stitches. It is in the base stitched spokes that the difference lies. Fly Stitch Rose is, as the name suggests, based on the Fly Stitch + a Straight Stitch trapped underneath the arms of the Y:

By weaving, with embroidery ribbon,  in the same way as the Spider's Web Stitch, you get this look:

The base stitches are hidden beneath the swelling petals, so it is impossible to tell which of the two stitches it is!
