WIPW - Stocked up

Although Japan's Golden Week is supposed to be a holiday, I had to work as usual and was also busy with visitors and an outing.

In spite of that, I managed to complete the set of

Hexablooms

by making the final seven new blocks.

I now have a total of 377 flowers, so I am fully stocked up on blocks.

It has taken me almost a year, as I started the job in late May 2024.

In November last year, I made a calculation on how many minutes it takes me to make one single hexagon flower. The total time required is 45 minutes. I wrote about how to calculate the time here.

That means 45 minutes x 377 blocks = 16.965 minutes, i.e. 282,75 hours to make all the blocks.

In August last year, I also calculated how many stitches there are in one single hexagon flower; you can read about that calculation here

The answer is 320 stitches. Now 320 stitches x 377 blocks = 120.640 stitches! A grand total!

I am now ready to start sorting the blocks into colour groups.

The picture below was taken from a bird's-eye view of the piles of blocks, so the amount does not seem impressive, but believe me, there are many blocks in those piles!

There is a pile of pink, red + wine red, light + medium green, orange, light blue, dark green, yellow, turquoise, medium + dark blue, grey + black, beige + brown, light and dark purple...

The next step is to arrange these blocks into a nice pattern, mark each block with a number and stitch them into rows. Some single white hexagons will be needed to fill in voids, but more on that next week.

I continue to add stitches to this bookmark. It is still hard to see what the motif is, but next week I will probably only show you the reverse side.
