Mola
I have made a few more slits (lower left) and filled them with various coloured pieces of fabric, needle turned, and am now wondering what to do with the empty space to the left.

The Cuna Indians inhabit 49 of the approximately 365 small islands in the San Blas Archipelago, Panama. The islands are off the hurricane path, but are at risk from sea level rise, and might be uninhabitable in the late 21st century.

More bits of color added, more sparkle. Like a bright morning in the jungle with splashes of light coming through the leaf canopy.

Yes, and I'd say their lifestyle is not the reason the sea level is rising, but they have to pay the price of others' mistreatment of nature.

It's looking great! How about a visiting bumble bee or butterfly?
Good idea, but the location is not the best - a bee or butterfly would circle round the flowers, not the ground, I think.
Actually I have now worked a kind of plant there... show and tell on Wednesday.

The best thing with batik is that it doesn't fray much!
Many of them are just sandbanks sticking up over the water's surface - still. Soon some of them are gone, I fear.
It is important not to add too bright or outstanding colours - that would drown the flowers.
