Pile 'em On
I made more Buttonhole rings, but this time they are joined. Look to see the result and how I made them.
To fill in another flame I worked Gobelin Filling Stitch
For my training with Canvas stitches I made three new ones:
Straight Cashmere stitch
Diagonal stitch
Jacquard stitch
Fruity Cushion

The embroidered form of Double Wedding Ring (quilt) pattern!
It was fun to make the rings - they could be made into the Olympic Rings!
It is a pity the blue fabric for the Fruity Cushion looks so grey; it really is a much darker attractive blue shade.
My aim is to add something new each week, so my headache now is what to add to the circle for next week!
For me, the end of the holiday means LESS stitching!
It is a piece of fabric I found among my mother's things, 32 count even weave linen, but some threads are considerably thinner than others. She had started pulled work, for a small table cloth, but instead of trying to complete her work I will let it be incorporated in my stitches.
I have used couching when I wanted a bit more than just quilting, and found it is a good way to add color or emphasis. Your canvas is looking great with all that variety.

I certainly am missing TAST but having taken part in it and then joining WIPW, I have built up a routine that 'pushes' me to progress.
Ha, ha! They were fun to make but I never thought of cooking while making them!
I have often admired others beautiful cushions and seat covers in Canvas work, and once I feel I have 'trained' enough, I hope to make one!
Thank you, Margaret. It is nice to focus on one type of needlework for a while. There are plenty more canvas stitches to learn!
Couching is perfect when you have a thread that is too thick to force through the fabric. It makes a highly decorative form of 'quilting', too.
Thanks for sharing ring in ring. great idea. the gobelin stitches look lovely in this shaded green thread. the canvas stitches are beautiful. your Swedish embroidery on cushion has piqued my interest in Swedish folk embroidery. the couching looks very nice. I am also missing TAST.
I am very pleased, too, with the Gobelin stitch - and it was an easy one!
I am also missing TAST, but find I have less time to stitch now compared with a year ago, so I am a bit grateful for having less pressure.
love the rings..Pile 'em On is growing beautifully with lots of interesting texture and colors..I enjoy looking at it and it makes me smile always.
