According to the Embroiderers' Guild of Sweden, Täcklebo Broderiakademi, aka BRAK,
30th July is World Embroidery Day
So are you ready? Have you got everything you need for a bit of stitch fun? Sharpen that needle, select some thread, pick out a piece of fabric, or continue with an ongoing project. Let's enjoy!

I didn't know that, but I'm always ready to get some stitching done!
must have had second sense that this was coming Queenie as I decided to have a break from quilting and yesterday got out the piece of hardanger I had started ages ago, will work on it today too as it is Embroidery day
Thanks for the link to this day I had it sent out to all the members of our guild. I don't think it made much of an impact but I plan to do something better next year.
I hope this tradition started by the Swedes will spread..., but it wouldn't surprise me if there already IS a day devoted to embroidery somewhere else in the world.
Anyway, I know that you are ALWAYS ready for needlework!!!
I will try to make note of this day and really turn it into a day of stitches. Then again almost every day is a day I prick a piece of fabric with my needle!
It's good, isn't it, to change to another project from time to time. I often find I need to give the ongoing work a bit of a think before I can go on.
World Embroidery Day is a new thing to me, too, although I learned about it last year. From now on it has to be a traditional 'must' but then there isn't really a day that I am not engaged in embroidery... so no real change from my ordinary day!
Thank you for spreading the word, Carolyn.
It was news to me when I found Carolyn's post. And here I am stuck in the office on a writing day. Next Year I will do something!
Yes, it is typical, isn't it? Here in Sweden most people are now on summer holiday and can enjoy their hobby at leisure. Maybe that is why they chose this particular date! Let's plan for NEXT year!
