In last week's summery of the TAST stitches I played with zentangels and made a bird.
Zentangles were such fun for this week's challenge I started scribbling lines on a piece of pink batik. The empty fields were filled with Pistil stitches.
The result is very abstract, not a flower in sight!

I like the freedom to stitch on ANY fabric and batik is especially embroidery friendly.
I learned about zentangles through Pintangle and although I have scribbled during telephone conversations etc I now know how to 'develop' such 'graffiti' and incorporate it in my embroidery. Give it a try; it's great fun!
I guess there is a name for every action under the sun! 'Zen' in zentangle might be from zen meditation as this is a very meditative form of scribbling. Whatever, it is a great form of relaxation and useful for embroidery design!
I agree, using only one TAST stitch in each of 12 'scribbles' one would get a beautiful calendar. The Pistil stitch is especially nice as it can be used both as a liniar and detatched stitch. As would chain, fly and bullion...
