WIPW - Undulating Chains

Oh, how lovely to have time to sit and stitch! The result is that I have some progress to report for my Work In Progress Wednesday report.

Sunday Stitch School Stitch Sampler

I added the following stitches: #73 God's Eye Stitch, and #138 Waved Chain Stitch.

As you can see I am stitching a line of Chain Stitch on top of the undulating chalk marks I made last week.

Sunday Stitch School - Lesson 244: French Cretan Stitch

Cretan Stitch, in its simple version, is one of the basic hand embroidery stitches. Look at these pictures and I am sure you recognise the Cretan Stitch.

The needle goes up and down alternatively.

The stitch we are going to learn today is a version of this basic stitch, made quite complicated. You have to pay attention and concentrate - at least till you have got into the rhythm.

At Sarah's Hand Embroidery Tutorials, I found French Cretan Stitch. It is an unusual-looking stitch, wouldn't you say?

To sum it up, it's a combination of two Cretan Stitch up-stitches followed by a short and a long vertical Buttonhole Stitch above them!

Work it like this:

With wider spacing, you get an 'airier' look.

Friday Homework for Lesson 243: Basket Stitch

I like the Basket Stitch. I like to stitch it and I like to look at it.

WIPW - Back On Track

At last, I am back on track and have made some progress on my various projects. Here is the Work In Progress Wednesday report.

Birthday Card

I made two more birthday cards but was in such a rush to send them off that I forgot to take a picture! They were with floral motifs made with Chermanthy Stitch (simple and complex versions) see below.

Sunday Stitch School Stitch Sampler

Here they are again #95 Chermanthy, simple version (yellow on top of blue silk appliqué) and #99 Chermanthy, complex version (red x 2 and blue variegated thread)

Finally, after a long stalling, I stitched down the large appliqué circle and marked the new stitch lines. The small plastic cups I have been covering with scraps of fabric will be added inside these lines.
