NHK Partnership Quilt 2019

NHK Partnership Quilt

I have completed the block for next year's NHK's Partnership Quilt project. It is the 15th time I contribute a block and of all those themes, this year's HOUSE theme I found the most uninspiring.

It is also hard to do on this small scale, 15cmx15cm. Up till a few years ago it was 20cmx20cm, which granted us far more room to play around.

Anyway I drew a square in my sketchbook, chewed the pencil for a while and then all of a sudden I had made this mushroom. I knew I had a small piece of red fabric with white polka dots, so I just needed to dig out some other small scraps. The Swedish flag on the washing line was made with crayons and a hot iron.

You can see the blocks I have sent in for the last 14 years here.

Should you wish to take part, the last day for a contribution is 31st July. Read more here.

You have met the brief, House, a lovely block to add to the quilt that it will be part of.

How cute! Very creative! My stitch group will be working on these tomorrow and hopefully getting them in the mail this week.

The change to 15cm makes tie work a bit tight to fit in, but it also makes the use of smaller scraps possible. Might I call this a "Mixed Blessing"? I wonder who picks the theme for the next year. Which do you think was easiest to come up with?

That's so fun and creative, good for you!
You've made a nice collection of blocks Queenie.

I hope it will be in a Mushroom Village quilt.

Thank you!
I hope you all have your blocks in the post soon, and don't forget to add a 62 yen blank postcard with your own address written on it .

Yes, I am glad I got rid of a few scraps.
Next year's theme; mm, what about Hobby, Cooking, Seasons or Reading/Books.
The easiest themes were 2008 Tea Time and 2014 Floral Message.

Some are better than others. For the 2007 Basket block I had the perfect print of a cat that just HAD to be in a basket.

There you are - settle down to think about it, and inspiration strikes!

You've done very well with the amount of space to work with. And I love mushroom houses and washing lines so its a hit from me.

I settled down with paper and pen and could start scribbling as soon as an idea came into my head. Too often I get an idea but had nowhere to record it, and it is gone.

I must have got the inspiration after seeing your quirky and whimsical art for so long. Thank you for influencing me! Keep up the good work, Linda.
