Friday Homework for Lesson 67: Fishbone Stitch

The Fishbone Stitch was easier to work than the Raised Fishbone Stitch (#61), it gives a flatter look and does not gobble up as much thread, although it does have an appetite for it.

Aida Sampler
I tried to make some leaves, difficult on Aida, and a line of stitches.
Compare the blue Fishbone Stitch with the Raised Fishbone Stitch in brown six stitches up.

And it is easier to stitch in a perle thread than in 2 strands of floss, as I have just discovered.

I see the bones, but no fish. Too hot for swimming maybe...

As you say, tricky to do leaves on aida, but it does create quite a good, light, geometric feel...

Good discovery.

If spaced wider it would look like a set of fish bones, it is mostly used for leaves and stitched close together.

Modern leaves, eh?
