Friday Homework for Lesson 64: Madam Totsuka's Tasselled Chain

It's been one of those weeks when nothing is 'normal'. Now it's SUNDAY, and I am rushing to hand in my FRIDAY homework for Madam Totsuka's Tasselled Chain Stitch.

It is a fiddly stitch, but gets easier for each one you make. Also I have found that perle cotton is the best choice of thread for this stitch.

I don't think you will find it anywhere but in Sadako Totsuka's books, and they are only available in Japanese, and probably only sold in Japan. Sorry!

This stitch looks good with all five thread varieties. I agree with you- the more you do the easier it becomes.

It's worth making a note somewhere - if you think you'll forget, anyway - of which sorts of threads work best for which stitches. It's amazing how much easier a stitch can be if you change the thread or the needle...

This is the kind of stitch where you want to have an extra set of fingers until you have mastered it. Then it is plain sailing.

Your comment proves you are an experienced stitcher, Rachel. Yes, indeed many stitches change appearance, and can be easier to do, if you change the thread, or needle.
