Sunday Stitch School today focuses on the well-known Twisted Chain stitch, but used in an unusual way - Detached!
I found it easiest to stitch it away from me, like this:
The completed stitch reminds me of an awareness ribbon.
No Swedish name found. Mattia suggests these names in French: - point de chainette détaché torsadé
- point de bouclette torsadé

It may be well known but I don't think I've used this stitch
I can see that stitch would be a good texture filler, in different sizes
and directions. And it could be used for a border. Maybe even as fish in a pond?
Many possibilities.
When Twisted Chain is worked in a line it makes a beautiful 'rope' and I am sure you have both seen and used it. However, I have not often seen the stitch in units of one, i.g. detached so thought I would add it to my SSS list.
It could be used for an 'Awareness of Breast Cancer' pink ribbon, or a fish, or a leaf....
It does look like an awareness ribbon.
It's very useful for breaking up textures a bit while still keeping within the chain stitch family. And as you say, it has a myriad of other uses...

Especially if worked in ribbon, I guess!
Almost every basic stitch can be varied endlessly, just think of all the buttonholed stitches there are.

It does look like an Awareness badge. Such a simple little stitch, with many uses I'm sure. Time to play with it.
