WIPW - Starting the Embellishing

Work In Progress Wednesday today shows you how I have started embellishing the

Crazy for Crazy
light blue block.

I have followed suggestions in Sharon Boggon's book
on how to place the pieces, and embellish the seams and empty areas.

I will not disclose here the 'tricks of the trade' I have learned from the book. Instead I highly recommend you get a copy. It is a good investment as the book is easy to follow and full of inspiration.
I am glad I can use a lot of the TAST and Sunday Stitch School stitches in this project. MAYBE it will be a target - to use as many of the about 200 stitches as possible.

In the picture above I have made pink flowers out of Looped Cretan Stitch, then added Berry Stitch leaves in green with a blue centre. The blue thread was also used to whip the stem of this rambling plant.
More and different types of embellishments to come.
Till next time.

My intention is to make every block a monochrome one with contrasting embroidery and embellishments.

Portuguese knotted stem stitch looks good with variegated thread. The block looks good. Are you planning to frame each hexie?

Nice work on your pink flowers with the Berry Stitch leaves in green and blue.
Very clever.

This is a project that will be easy to keep up!

PKS Stitch is chunky in itself, with variegated thread it looks even heavier.
Yes there will be a bias tape frame on each hexagon and then they will be joined together and probably decorated.

It if fun to do these 'double stitches' (Berry is made up of two Detached Chain Stitches) in two colours, that makes them look slightly different from the original chunky stitch.

Thank you.

Yes, Sharon's is a good book. Even though I don't do crazy quilting I've had useful ideas and hints from it.

Yes, that is the amazing thing with many of Sharon's ideas.
Anyone doing embroidery of any kind, will find useful information and tips from her book, tutorials, courses, stitch dictionary and web site.

I like the looped cretin arrangement.

Sharon has a lot of stitch combinations in her book that can be used for floral displays. I will also make my own combos.

Lovely, lovely stitching, designs and thread colours.
I'm currently using Pintangle dictionary for Beyond TAST. Sharon's book beside me will save time online and give more inspiration
