WIPW - A Finished Bag

It is so nice to be able to incorporate a FINISH in the Work In Progress Wednesday report.

Mola
I completed the embroidery and set about to construct the bag. The long handles make it easy to sling over the shoulder. Later in the week it will go for an outing to Tokyo Dome to be inspected by friends at the Tokyo International Great Quilt Festival.

Once it has returned home, though, it will be housebound. The slits would fray if used as a bag for a long time. On purpose I made the bag like a pillowcase so it can double as a cover for one of my cushions. In future it will lounge on the Trinity Green quilt.

Next WIPW report will feature a new project!

That's a beautiful finish Queenie!
And you're getting ready to go to the International
Tokyo Great Quilt Festival, awesome.
Some of the best quilts are shown there.

I love your bag, brilliant idea to make it as a cushion cover as well.

Your bag looks lovely and I'm sure it will look great lounging on your trinity quilt after it's outing.

Thanks!
Yes, I am getting ready for the crowds of people and the crowds of quilts. This is a Grand show of Grand quilts.

Yes, I am very please that I can keep the promise to self of making a bag, and still use it just for decoration at home away from the wear and tear of a shopping trip.

Thanks Barbara.
It will be a bit painful to take it to the quilt show where there will be a special display of EXCELLENT Mola quilts. I don't know if I want to see such apparent difference in quality!

It will bury its head in Trinity Green in shame after having seen the perfect Mola quilts at the show! Poor thing!

Well done! It's a fascinating technique, and all the detail really brings it to life.

At the Tokyo Internationals Great Quilt Festival which opened today there will be a special exhibition about Mola. I am looking forward to studying others's work, and 'get' the technique, which still puzzles me.

A fantastic finish! I agree, it would be a great pity to risk spoiling all those carefully turned edges by using the bag to lug heavy items about. Much better to preserve your work in the form of a cushion. It would also look beautiful framed.

Fantastic! What a wonderful bag!

Stunning bag, Queenie. Even where expertly made Mola will be shown, you can be proud of your work and your own pattern. I'll be surprised if it doesn't grab attention from others there.
Very well done.

Framing would be difficult now the panel has been turned into a bag, but I COULD hang it inside the glas door of a cabinet!!!

You are so kind, Maureen.

Smart idea to give it room on a bed. My quilted bags have gotten hard use over the years. I learned Yamanaka-san is the same age as me. I would be hard put to put all my years of quilts up on show. Of course, I doubt many of those have been used on a bed.

Your mola is absolute wonderful, I love your bag.

well done on finishing it, it's gorgeous! I don't blame you for not wanting it to get ruined!

I am really looking forward to seeing what it is that I don't 'get' about this technique.

Thank you. I think the simple shape of the bag was the right one for the Mola design.

I’m sure you are very modest, Queenie! And I’m sure it should be on display! Your bag will get many admiring glances. I wonder if you will be recognised by any other bloggers?
Have fun!

it went to the quilt show twice, and was not soiled or town, luckily. Now it will stay at home and relax on the sofa!

Great finish! I'm glad you only use this bag once, it would be a pity if it got damaged.

It held up well even in the crowds of the show. Now it is relaxing in the safety of my home!
