I have been thinking about this stitch and think it would be just right to stitch hedgehog, from the Russian cartoon, Hedgehog in the Fog. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThmaGMgWRlY It looks just like the animation.
Very colourful exercise. Makes me think of dancers at a Festival. What fun you've had with this stitch. Looks like I'll be stitching X Y and Z all on the same day. Bad pupil..

They also make a more interesting pattern than, for example, seed stitches would!
They do look like people bustling around a shopping mall.
I think that stitch would be good for adding texture/color to an area.
Rachel, you look carefully, you consider and come up with such good comments. THANK YOU.
Yes, it would add more movement than the Seed Stitch.
How clever of you to see this! Yes, Tokyo in rush hour!
I love your colour choice, those 'things' look great against the pink. Food for thought here.
I like the blue best, but the variety of colors makes it look moving, like Janie noted.
Like real handwriting, you can exaggerate the stitching and make them even funkier, as well as use fluorescent thread or something fibrous or glossy.
It would have been boring with only blue on that hot pink fabric, I think.

I just had a look at the charming cartoon, and yes, this stitch would be perfect for the needles.
An very interesting stitch which really expands your imagination. good range of colours of Y stitches. I too feel they make nice filling stitches.
I loved your 'gold fish'! Simply by turning the stitch horizontally you made them swim.

O yes, I can see the dementors! This is such a versatile stitch.
That's OK, but Z will not come until after the revision lesson.
Never did I think of all these things when I made the letter y into a stitch.
