Work In Progress Wednesday.
At last I find that I have some real progress to report. I have completed the embroidery on the
Fruity Cushion
I feel the embroidery is ripe enough and I am ready to start constructing the cushion.
The orange zig-zag stitches at the edges are not part of the original design, but I thought they make a good frame and balance the colours. One can see them as the cardboard box in which the fruit is being sold!
Bon apetite!

so good to see you have had time to complete this Queenie and good to see you back on your blog, take care my friend
Gorgeous!
I think you outside lines of stitching really frame your piece well and the colour of the thread that you have used brings the design to life. Great piece.
Your orange zig-zag stitches do very well.
Thanks Margaret,
I'll be visiting your blog soon, I bet you've been busy!
Thank you, Pamela!
Words like yours are the best kind of needlework fuel - I fell I have made the right decision and I really want to push myself even more.
I am glad you think so, personally I was very pleased with the result.
This is lovely! I love the additional orange on the edges and look forward to seeing the completed cushion!
Definitely ripe!
It is such an appealing design, Carin, and as everybody I like the orange zig-zag - and indeed it is balancing the other orange bits.
I really love this one, the colors work wonderfully together and the orange gives it a final smash. Good you're back!
Thank you, Brighid
It is nice to be back to all this praise! I think the orange edges fit in well.
Hi Renee,
Good to hear you and so many others approve of the orange addition!
Cut it open and what will ooze out?!
Yes, I think the orange is a good addition at the edges; I hope the designer of the pattern does not mind...
That is a 'wow' project, color, design and stitching all play together well.
This is so so pretty - the colors just glow against the background. Good to see you blogging again!
Luscious, as good fruit should be. The orange border ties in with the other parts so well.
I've missed seeing your work this year, while you've been busy but look forward to the time you will be able to stitch at leisure.
Making up for lost time, I see! What a bright lovely finish!
I am so glad you like it. Now let's hope I can construct the cushion without problem!
Hi Cynthia,
I'm sorry I've been out of touch for a long time - I just haven't had any time for myself or my needlework all summer.
Thank you Maureen for your kind words.
Caring for other people's needs have taken up SO much of my time, but now I hope to have a bit more freedom to do what I want...
I am so sorry, Julie, that I have had no time to keep in touch or meet up. I've hardly had time to switch on the computer, let alone work with needle and thread. Let's hope my good fortune of finding some 'me-time' lasts!
What a lovely finish to your cushion, the orange gives a lift to all the colours finishing the design perfectly!
A very wonderful work on this cushion. worth waiting for all these weeks. lots of interesting details. love the running stitch squares, leaves with French knots! congrats on your finish!
Thank you for your kind words.
There are no 'advanced' stitches here, only basic embroidery stitches, so there was a lack of (TASTy) challenge.
As you prove all the time in your fantastic garments, Chitra, intricate design can be build with stitches such as Chain, Running, Herringbone, Knots...
I am so happy to hear that; you have such a good eye for design and colour combination, Susan.
This will be a lovely cushion, Queenie!
Vilket mästerverk.both the stitches ,the fabric and your choice of colours.Have been off for a while as I lost your blog adress. So impressed
Thank you, Annet.
The cushion is now constructed and I am making tassels for the four corners. Picture on Wednesday!
Hej Ulla,
So great to read one of your posts and see your lovely stitching. This is going to be a wonderful cushion - so creative and colourful.
Du är en lyckans ost! Jag skulle också velat se broderierna i original - om inte annat för att se färgerna. Det är idag svårt att finna broderi linne i dessa mättade färger.
The cushion is now resting on my bed, complete with tassels and an 'interesting' lining. I'll post about it in tomorrow's WIPW report.
