Fruity Cushion.
I made up the cushion, lined it, attached a zipper and added a tassel for each corner.
In my stash I have a number of samples of summer silk, and the width was perfect for the lining.
For the tassels I cut up lengths of the linen thread used in the embroidery.
The cushion is now resting on my bed.
So with the cushion completed I need another project.
Conveyor Belt Needle Case
Starting back in February I made several needle cases in a 'conveyor belt' fashion in wool embroidery from a Swedish design. (There are five WIPW posts starting with this one).
The needle cases have all been given away, but I will be needing one more for a gift, so I drew the design and mounted the black wool in a hoop.

your cushion is lovely and also loving the needle cases, maybe a scissor keeper to match would work well too though I am sure you have already thought of that

My little needle case is happy to be one of those re-homed ones. They are very special. I love the tassels on your pillow. What a sweet finish!
Ha, ha! Don't push me! Five of the needle cases were for a group of friends and if I were to make a scissors keep for one of them I'd have to make four more... The idea of a set , though, IS great!

Thanks Julie. I am so happy to be almost back on track and having some time to spend on sewing (although I had to be a bed side sitter for a long time again today).
I believe I have somewhere in my craft library a book on 'serious' tassel making, you know the kind where there is a wooden bead inside the tassel and braids as well as masses of thin silk threads are used.
This is a perfect and wonderful cushion. I admire the lining with silk and the tassels give it a beautiful finish. Stitching and embroidering on wool must be so soft for the fingers.

you're so kind! As the pattern is a published one I can't really enter it into a competition, but will think of it as a 'ribboned' cushion - just for my own enjoyment or vanity!

I wish I would make better use of local fabric, being in Japan with all the beautiful weaves why don't I make quilts in kimono silk, or bags in summer crepe or dolls in the thicker kind of crepe, chirimen? YOU always work with the lovely silks of your region.

I wanted to make use of a zipper, which was a bit short, in my stash, and I am pleased to say there was no problem to squeeze the inner cushion into the cover. The finish looks neat enough.

Tassel making is very rewarding - just a few strands of thread and you have a nice ornament. With sparkly thread it makes the ultimate Christmas tree decoration.

I had to make five needle cases for friends and made the first four in one go. The ones I made for you and Julie, I am sorry to say, were the very first, trial ones!!! Sorry!
