Here is my bead play:
I loved playing around with beads on these curved designs in perle #8. It is hard to believe they are the same stitch, isn't it? Because I used a variegated thread, the stitches in the middle design are both light blue and pink, while the beads are all pink. I should have stuck to a solid coloured thread.

I think the three variations of Lock Stitch (129, 130, 131) could make up a full embroidery design. If I only had the time...

The Lock stitch and its variations can be anything from elegant borders to curvy, organic plants or exotic marine life, don't you think?
Yes, I agree it is a beautiful heart, but I was most amazed by the shape in the middle. By using bugle beads for the base stitch you get a very sharp, metallic look, and the beaded Lock stitch on the edge is very flat and controlled. I still can not believe that they are the exact same stitches!
My hope is that one day in the (far) future a textile historian will find this piece and wonder what stitches I have used!
Fabulous variations Queenie ! Because this stitch is so versatile, and there are many others that metamorphasise and are unrecognisable, you could have a 'Name the stitch' weekly competition !

So many variations - I like the rows n the second photo - these are my favorites.
What a great idea! However, I am sure I would mistake many of my own stitches! It might be time for a stitch test again...
