WIPW - turning into UFOs

Work In Progress Wednesday is a challenge initiated by Sharon of Pintangle. The title says it all - you show your progress of (needle)work on a Wednesday. To learn more click here.

Kafferepet

Thank you for all your comments on the iced Raspberry cordial I showed last week. Tokyo is still too cold for such a drink so let me treat you to a cinnamon roll instead.

Serving dishes in pressed glass and with a foot like the one in this block are very popular in Sweden, and especially if the sweet buns are piled high.
To reflect the pattern of the 'pressed glass' I used TAST #69 Buttonholed Double Chain for the quilting.

Swedish Cushion
I have now moved into the second half of the cushion and started by making a large circle of a recent TAST stitch, #101 Triangular Buttonhole Stitch. Large triangles mean long stitches that would invite snagging. I therefore made them smaller and spaced them with #14 Stem Stitch in between, and will work a second line of triangles, as marked, with another stitch.

That progress will not be shown next week Wednesday, however. Instead I will turn my two WIPW projects into UFOs! I am going to take a break for a couple of weeks, and while away will not have online access (!!!) so I am not able to reply to any comments or visit other blogs. Sorry! Hope to catch up before the end of the month.

love the cinnamon buns, last week I popped to Ikea, and you were very much in my thoughts whilst walking round, also treated myself to a cinnamon bun whilst there. The pillow is so pretty, the triangle buttonhole stitch works so well in your circle, can see me using this in my CQ blocks. Have a lovely break, wondering if you will be doing any stitching whilst away

Hi Queenie the stem stitch between the triangular buttonhole is an innovation.......They work together fantasticly well ! Sweet cinnamon buns sound mouthwatering........I've never been to Sweden, but the buttonholed double chain is most effective ! Have a great trip Queenie,

The cinnamon buns look good enough to eat! And i like the way the quilting matches the glass. Your cushion looks lovely too. Very neat stitching.

Hope you have good time wherever you are going!
You work is really great, I love how you have used the various TAST stitches in both projects. They show to great advantage.

You made a wonderful glass dish, the fabric is perferct for it. And for the reflecting of the glass decor --complete admiration - and on the cushion the perfect circle with the triangle buttonhole stitches - as if they were invented for this purpose. Carin, have a good time during the next weeks!

I could just eat one of your rolls at the moment, the nice weather that we were having here has now turned to cold fog so a cup of hot tea and a cake would go down nicely! You are using lovely stitches on your cushion and I do like the colours. Hope that you have a good trip and travel safely!

I hope by now your weather has settled and spring is firmly set in. It is a lovely day in Tokyo.

I was given the 'glass' fabric and had no idea how to use it until it was time to make this dish. The perfect choice! I agree the Triangle Buttonhole stitches were invented for this circle!!

Thank you, Juno. I enjoyed adding the Triangular Buttonhole stitches to the circle..

Thank you for being so patient, Tanya!

I have had the fabric for a long time, it was a gift, and had no idea how to use it until it was time to make the pressed glass plate. Never give up, eh!

The buns are so healthy, not a single calorie and full of fibre! I thought the Buttonholed Double Chain was a good stitch for the quilting, and I am so glad you think so, too, Lilian.

Thank you, Jackie, for your kindness.

I love the variegated coral-red thread, too. It is DMC stranded floss #4130 and is just perfect on the blue fabric.

I just had to connect the triangles with something and the base of a buttonhole stitch looks just like the stem stitch so why not?
Thank you for always giving me encouragement, you are a star.

Ahem, the cinnamon buns of IKEA are just a pale shade of what you would get at my old aunt's house. I guess a real cinnamon roll is to me what a home baked scone with clotted cream and jam is to you.
Do try the Triangular Buttonhole stitch for your cq block.

Dear Carolyn,
Thank you for your kind words. Isn't it nice to be able to use TAST stitches in various projects?

Hi, Julie
Here I am again, sorry for the long wait. I swapped the cinnamon buns for a 'domburi' of rice water. Blah!
