After having learned more than 150 TAST (Take A Stitch Tuesday) stitches from Sharon Boggon's fantastic website Pintangle, I was still hungry for more.
That is why I started this Sunday Stitch School in November 2016. I wanted to work my way through the many, to me unknown stitches, in all the stitch dictionaries in my collection, and any interesting stitch I had found online.
Today's stitch was found online, at no other place than Pintangle! Among the stitches in Sharon's Stitch Dictionary there are some that have NOT found their way into TAST - yet, as far as I know anyway.
So here is a nice Canvas stitch called Boucle Stitch.

Anyway, here goes:
Make a line of slanting stitches.
Then turn the work upside down.
Turn the work upside down (e.g. right way up)
and make a new set of slanting stitches A - B and so on.
Turn the work upside down again and
loop the new slanted stitch I - J and so on,
until you have a full set of stitches.
Try to keep the tension better than I did!

Pintangle is a great resource.
Interesting new stitch!
It is rather difficult, not easy to see into which hole to insert the needle.
Tension is also a hurdle. Good even result will look great though.
Pintangle is one of the best sources online, and the instructions are always clear. Since I started SSS I know how difficult it is to take good, clear photos of the process.
Such a pretty stitch, it reminds me of the Houndstooth I stitched many years ago (https://fat-quarter.blogspot.com/2011/01/houndstooth.html).
That's a tricky one, I can see, but it looks good!
You need to take your time on this one - four threads have to share the same hole and it is difficult to find it. I think that is one reason why this stitch is tricky.
It does look similar, but somehow different. Is it a variety of Woven Cross Stitch?
No, it's no variation on the woven cross stitch. Houndstooth is a looped needlepoint stitch. It has 2 connected loops over a half cross stitch. I found it in the book Stitch Sampler by Lucinda Ganderton.
