Friday Homework for Lesson 6: Four Sided Stitch (some progress)

As I have been unwell, I am lagging behind and have not completed my Sunday Stitch School homework for Lesson 6, Four Sided Stitch yet.

It was my intention to work on a piece of wine red even weave, I had bought in a thrift shop, attracted by the colour. It turned out to be a horrid piece of polyester and did not stitch up well. It was scrapped and I got out a lovely stretch of Danish 32 count linen instead. I am stitching in DMC Pearl #12 and the Four Sided Stitch  is highly addictive. Once you get started it is hard to take a break.
My homework task was to 'Be creative', but I have not had the brain power to stretch my mind beyond the basic stitch. The flu is a good damper on one's creativity.

Sunday Stitch School will take a break over the New Year holiday and open again on January 8th.

      I am sure you will find it a quick and easy stitch - it is almost impossible to stop once you get started.

      It is a lovely stitch, and now that my brain is recovering from the flu I hope to explore it a bit more.

    I read in the paper yesterday that the flu has hit a 10 year high. I hope it passes by before school starts up again ... the cold is bad enough! Nice to see you taking a stitching break.

      Yes, doctor's surgery was packed with flu patients. Now I hope I have been 'vaccinated' for the next 30 years.

    I love 4 sided stitch but my eyes would not be able to see 32 count even struggle with 28 unless it is white or cream. Do hope you are all feeling better and the flu soon leaves you all leading to a healthy 2017

      I need LIGTH more than anything for sewing these days. That wine red polyester I tried to work on was just too hard to see, in any light. So white or cream is a good choice for 'aging' eyes!

      Oh, don't put too much pressure on me! I have made a plan for several interesting stitches and unless I am hit by another cold/flu or similar I will enjoy Sunday Stitch School.

    Take care and get well quick. It doesn't matter that you are behind with your stitching, getting better is more important. Danish Count Linen is beautiful to work on, enjoy.

      Right on - the Four Sided Stitch is a CLASSIC, and especially on the Danish linen.

      Linen is the best place for this stitch, although it looks good as a free form stitch on plain weave too.
