WIPW - A Few Cards

Thank you so very much for all your kind comments and well wishes. Fighting the FLU is still at the top of the agenda here.

However, as the last Work In Progress Wednesday post of 2016 I want to show you the set of tree ornaments/greeting cards I made based on four of the five first Sunday Stitch School stitches. The cards were shipped and reached their destinations before the Christmas holidays.

The yellow star in Back Stitch with a hexagon of Danish Knot Stitches.
The white stars (with moon) in Ermine Stitch.
The light blue bauble is made up of Danish Knot Stitches (and Stem Stitch).
The horticultural wonder of red berried pine twigs are made of Anundsjö Stitch.
The navy blue bauble with Ermine Stitches.
I made no Cross Stitch card.

Wishing you a productive and progress packed 2017. Happy New Year. Happy WIPW.

  3. Your cards are lovely!

I do hope you feel better soon. What a rough end of the year this has been. (A dear relative spent Christmas in the hospital fighting a bad viral infection.) Sending hugs and well wishes your way!

  4. I hope your flu has flown. My cold seems to have about the same tenacity and I keep hoping to see the last of it by year's end. Your ornaments are quite lovely and remind me of some that Blue and White had on their "tree".

    1. The flu is on its way out of the door, but I am still very weak and there is a mountain of work to be dealt with. Other family members are now in great need of a rest, but we have decided to take it easy this new year.

  7. So good to hear you are feeling somewhat better. Keep up the therapeutic rest as long as you can.

Each card is well designed and stitched. Love the really lush pine twigs.

I hope you and the family have a better 2017 in health and happiness and for you more creative works in the pipeline as well.

    1. Ha, ha. The Anundsjö stitch is in Swedish embroidery often used to depict pine needles, but in red thread. Here I wanted to be realistic and used green, then thought it was a bit dull so added the red beads. Now who has ever seen a pine tree with red berries?

  10. I love these cards, Queenie! They are so pretty, such a great idea! I especially love the Anundsjo stitch! Maybe it could look like decorations for my "Woebegone" tree. I'll have to test the stitch on a scrap ..... oooh, maybe a sampler is needed here!
Glad to see you are starting to recover from the flu!
    Hugs, Barbara xx

    1. Making cards/bookmarks to insert into window cards is a good way to make a small gift out of the greeting card.
Anundsjö stitch is flexible, you can make it long or short, slim or wide, triangular or straight and I bet it will be perfect for a woebegone tree.
Wishing you all the best for 2017. Happy Stitching.
