However, as the last Work In Progress Wednesday post of 2016 I want to show you the set of tree ornaments/greeting cards I made based on four of the five first Sunday Stitch School stitches. The cards were shipped and reached their destinations before the Christmas holidays.
The white stars (with moon) in Ermine Stitch.
The light blue bauble is made up of Danish Knot Stitches (and Stem Stitch).
The horticultural wonder of red berried pine twigs are made of Anundsjö Stitch.
The navy blue bauble with Ermine Stitches.
I made no Cross Stitch card.

I hope your flu has flown. My cold seems to have about the same tenacity and I keep hoping to see the last of it by year's end. Your ornaments are quite lovely and remind me of some that Blue and White had on their "tree".
ReplyDeleteThe flu is on its way out of the door, but I am still very weak and there is a mountain of work to be dealt with. Other family members are now in great need of a rest, but we have decided to take it easy this new year.

ReplyDeleteHa, ha. The Anundsjö stitch is in Swedish embroidery often used to depict pine needles, but in red thread. Here I wanted to be realistic and used green, then thought it was a bit dull so added the red beads. Now who has ever seen a pine tree with red berries?

DeleteI love these cards, Queenie! They are so pretty, such a great idea! I especially love the Anundsjo stitch! Maybe it could look like decorations for my "Woebegone" tree. I'll have to test the stitch on a scrap ..... oooh, maybe a sampler is needed here!

Making cards/bookmarks to insert into window cards is a good way to make a small gift out of the greeting card.
DeleteAnundsjö stitch is flexible, you can make it long or short, slim or wide, triangular or straight and I bet it will be perfect for a woebegone tree.
