A week passes so quickly and here is my Work In Progress Wednesday report.
Pile 'em On
I made more Buttonhole rings, but this time they are joined. Look to see the result and how I made them.
To fill in another flame I worked Gobelin Filling Stitch
They are not really 'pulled stitches' but look good anyway next to the free form Cretan stitches.
For my training with Canvas stitches I made three new ones:
From left:
Straight Cashmere stitch
Diagonal stitch
Jacquard stitch
Fruity Cushion
Two strands of purple linen tread were couched down.
I wish you all a wonderful stitchy week.
Love your joined buttonholed rings!
ReplyDeleteThe embroidered form of Double Wedding Ring (quilt) pattern!
DeleteThank you for showing us how to make interlaced rings, it's such a good idea.I love your canvas stitches.
ReplyDeleteIt was fun to make the rings - they could be made into the Olympic Rings!
DeleteHi Queenie, beautiful couching and use of color. Your work is inspiring and fun, thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt is a pity the blue fabric for the Fruity Cushion looks so grey; it really is a much darker attractive blue shade.
DeleteNice progress on both projects! I always like to see what you've come up with and how you add it in.
ReplyDeleteNow that Golden Week is over, it's back to the normal routine, which for me is more stitching!
My aim is to add something new each week, so my headache now is what to add to the circle for next week!
DeleteFor me, the end of the holiday means LESS stitching!
All your stitching is progressing well and looking very impressive. What is the fabric you are using for the 'pile them on'?
ReplyDeleteIt is a piece of fabric I found among my mother's things, 32 count even weave linen, but some threads are considerably thinner than others. She had started pulled work, for a small table cloth, but instead of trying to complete her work I will let it be incorporated in my stitches.
DeleteI have used couching when I wanted a bit more than just quilting, and found it is a good way to add color or emphasis. Your canvas is looking great with all that variety.
ReplyDeleteCouching is perfect when you have a thread that is too thick to force through the fabric. It makes a highly decorative form of 'quilting', too.
Deleteall 3 projects are coming along well you are building up quite a collection of canvas stitches
ReplyDeleteThank you, Margaret. It is nice to focus on one type of needlework for a while. There are plenty more canvas stitches to learn!
DeleteYour canvas stitches remind me of a canvas work cushion I made. I wonder where it went?
ReplyDeleteI have often admired others beautiful cushions and seat covers in Canvas work, and once I feel I have 'trained' enough, I hope to make one!
DeleteYour projects are progressing well, the shape of the rings reminds me of fried onion rings!
ReplyDeleteHa, ha! They were fun to make but I never thought of cooking while making them!
DeleteI like your rings. And good idea to "train" canvas stitches. We are missing Tast, aren't we?
ReplyDeleteI certainly am missing TAST but having taken part in it and then joining WIPW, I have built up a routine that 'pushes' me to progress.
DeleteThanks for sharing ring in ring. great idea. the gobelin stitches look lovely in this shaded green thread. the canvas stitches are beautiful. your Swedish embroidery on cushion has piqued my interest in Swedish folk embroidery. the couching looks very nice. I am also missing TAST.
ReplyDeleteI am very pleased, too, with the Gobelin stitch - and it was an easy one!
DeleteI am also missing TAST, but find I have less time to stitch now compared with a year ago, so I am a bit grateful for having less pressure.
love the rings..Pile 'em On is growing beautifully with lots of interesting texture and colors..I enjoy looking at it and it makes me smile always.
ReplyDeleteYou are so kind! I wonder what to do next with the Pile 'em On...
