TAST #120 Double Herringbone Stitch

One of the first TAST stitches we learned was the Herringbone Stitch (#5). Here is the double version, #120 which has a nice braided look.

I like the look, but have problems with counting and placing the stitches in the correct holes...

    I like the use of contrasting colours. I kept forgetting to go under that first bar and having to go back again. The stitch looks better when you count the threads eyeballing the distance between each one isn't as good.

      I LOVE the Herringbone stitch when it is a free stitch and I can eyeball - counting is a bit stressful to me.

    I love your color combinations and the variety in the sizes of your stitches! I had to pull some stitches out of mine due to mis-counting, too. I love the way these look though!

    looking very good to me Queenie, wonder what count you are using, I have had to come down to 25 from 28 for ease and maybe will drop to 20 evenweave in the end!

      Sorry, the sampler is packed away right now and I don't remember what count it is. Do you know that I would love to stitch this on 'non-woven' as there isn't a single hole to count!!

    Double herringbone is much easier on Aida, but maybe you don't have it at hand right now. The different spacing makes it looks pretty. And of course it can be a good freestyle embroidery stitch too!

      I know! And, no I have no Aida here to help me with the placement, but I would love to stitch the Double Herringbone on paper or something where there are no holes - 100% freestyle!

    I like purple and yellow together and I have the same problem with placing the stitches in the right holes.

      Annet of FatQuarter suggested using Aida, and of course, that would make it easy!
      For free form embroidery, this stitch is easy peasy!
