WIPW - One ticked off the list

Work In Progress Wednesday - a great challenge to tick off your UFOs (UnFinished(Needlework)Objects) inspired by Pintangle.

Christmas Mobile
This is no longer a WIP but a WC, no, not a loo, but Work Completed and ticked off my list.

1) The wreaths were cut out.
2) They were folded over a ruler.
3) They were then glued together and fixed with pegs, and left to dry.
4) The smallest wreath has four parts, the others six.
5) The spheres were strung up with the beads and ribbon provided.
6) Finally to create a tassel, the beads were strung up and attached to the bottom of the green ribbon.
7) The WIP has turned into a WC.
Although this project was fun to do, I found it a bit fiddly to cut out and assemble. Nevertheless, this will be a nice addition to my Christmas decorations.

Kafferepet
The flowers are embellished in the same way as previous flowers, for details look at older blog posts. The stems are made with TAST stitches.

Upper (right) stem: Bonnet stitch #25
Lower stem: Inverted Feather #50

Upper stem: Sheaf #33
Lower: Buttonholed Herringbone #55
Upper stem: Raised Chain version 2, #81
Lower stem: Top Knotted Buttonhole #64

Swedish Cushion
I have not had a lot of time to devote to the cushion but added an outline of yellow Buttonhole Picots version 1 (with Bullion stitches) #87
Wow, check out how differently the red, purple and yellow take to the camera!!!

    love the humour in your blog Queenie!! your decorations are delightful, must admit I did not have a clue what your rosettes were going to turn into, wow. Flowers coming along so well too, they will soon be a WC too.

      When I saw the Christmas wreath kit at FOQ I thought it would be a nice, easy project. Nice, yes. Easy, well...

    I've been waiting patiently for this post and I'm happy the time finally came! I really like how the wreath decoration is made. It came out great, Carin! Thanks for the wonderful photos and explanation.

      It took longer to make the mobile than I had though so I am sorry I had you waiting! The design is nice, but if I had paid more attention to how I fastened the threads on the back it would have been less bulky and joining the parts easier...

    Your Christmas decoration looks very nice. I must say it looks very fiddly to put together. I the like the use of the 'Sheaf Stitch', really original. Well done on all of your progress

      You have to pay attention to how you cut out the paper; so easy to slip with the craft knife, then use the glue sparingly... It was fiddly, but the design is so nice I am very pleased with the result anyway.
      The Sheaf stitch is very attractive, although it actually does not really fit here as it is not a linear stitch...

      Yes, it is really a great feeling when something is finished. You are so productive with everything you make to sell, so you must have this feeling often!

      Thank you. It is very pleasant to have completed a WIP.
      Of the stems on the Kafferepet, I actually like the Sheaf stitches the best, although they are not a linear stitch.

      Yes, isn't the design great? It would be easy to copy the idea just using cardboard or glossy paper, or fabric stiffened with starch or stabiliser.

    Oh, this will be the star of your Christmas decoration. And you showed how you proceeded in a wonderful way. You were very patient to finish so many wreaths - and assemble them - those beautiful fiddly things.

      It is a rather long decoration and will be easily spotted among the others. Instead of decorating a tree I hang everything from 'washing lines' of thread strung across the room.
      Whenever I look at it I will be reminded of my glue covered fingers and how I nearly cut right through the stitching with the craft knife. Happy memories, eh?!

    Thanks for the close-ups of the flowers, they're lovely. Well done on finishing the wreath, it looks so fiddly that I think I would have put it back in the box!

      I saw a sample of the completed mobile at the trader's stand when I bought the kit and that made me determined to complete it. Also after finishing a fiddly task, there is this euphoria of having seen it through. A drug-free drug!

      Well, you know that on a 'fantasy' flower anything goes! I love embellishing and if the rest of the quilt weren't as realistic and easily identifiable I'd pour on the threads like treacle!

    I was waiting to see how those would turn out. Congratulations on the finish. The embroidery is so beautiful. I admire the creative use of all those fancy stitches you have learned.
