While recovering from my cold I watched a bit of the figure skating at the Olympic Games. In between the various athletes' performances, Sunbonnet Sue appeared and skid on the ice.
Thank you! It is always a challenge to use the five stitches in a smart way. The Detached Up and Down Buttonholes Stitch seemed good for a 'knitted' scarf.
Oh, Queenie! She's fabulous!!!! You must have such patience!I love the effect of the two-sided insertion ..... it's so pretty! It looks a lovely snow coat! And how are you, are you better now? We are suffering here this week with horrible colds. Hugs, Barbara xx
Thank you Barbara, The Two-sided Insertion Stitch pattern on the coat took a lot of time (and patience) do to, but it think it makes a nice filling pattern. Yes, thanks I am getting better. I'm sorry to hear you have been ill, too. This year the 'bug' is a nasty one!
I've been looking forward to this. Beautiful skating rendition and use of stitches, making Sue the star of the rink. Nice work Queenie, glad you're feeling better.
I have loved each of your Sunbonnet Sue girls but this one take first prize in my eyes. You worked the Two-sided Insertion stitch around a curve so neatly. I'm happy you are feeling better and hope the cold weather ends soon.
Thank you Maureen, I have had fun making each Sunbonnet Sue in a different way. Here I wanted to use the traditional chubby little girl, playing at skating in her backyard while pretending she was one of the stars at the OS.

I'm glad Sue has that nice warm scarf on such a cold day. It really looks like it is knit.
ReplyDeleteWe certainly need a warm muffler these days - even inside the house! It is still Brrr!

The two sided insertion stitch looks very effective.
ReplyDeleteThat section took a long time and a bit of patience to do!
DeleteOh, very well done. She's an absolute poppet, and you've made good use of the stitches to create the effects of the materials.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rachel.
DeleteI think the Bayeux Stitch looks good on the gloves, and the Colonial Knots are great for the snow.
