Work In Progress Wednesday
Mola
I have dug up a bit more colour from under the black top.
(Sorry about the blurred photo; too late in the day to take a decent photo.)
Mola - Snippets of Interest
The Kuna indians used hand made needles made from the long thorns of the Sinyu tree.

The more you add the more interesting it is, I am loving the progress of your piece.
ReplyDeleteThank you. It is nearing its end.
DeleteIt gets richer and more exotic with each passing week!
ReplyDeleteWell, I am beginning to like it now that there is more colour....
DeleteHi Queenie, I have missed some of your blogs as I have been busy. I see that a new embroidery has been started, it is a lovely idea to follow the old traditions. The mola art is beautiful, it is nice to see something different
ReplyDeleteI have missed YOU, and your blog postings. Any Christmas knitting on the go?
DeleteMolas are beautiful, but oh, so difficult to make!
This is fantastic! I like it more everytime I see it.
ReplyDeleteI agree, it gets better the more colour is added, but I still don't like this technique much!
DeleteI just love seeing your updates on this one. The colors are all fabulous! Beautiful progress.
ReplyDeleteThank you. With black as the top layer you need colourful opening or the piece would be so dull.
DeleteLovely work.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteI didn't think you could dig up any more colour from this but it keeps appearing!
ReplyDeleteJust insert a number of colored scraps and you can dig up colourful things!
DeleteLovely balancing act of colour and shapes. The mola gets better and better.
ReplyDeleteI also think it is improving with time, but I still don't like working on this kind of 'quilting'.
DeleteVery good progress on this mola quilt work.growing colourful and beautiful every week. I am getting inspired and want to try this some time.
ReplyDeleteIF you do, make sure the fabric does not fray easily!
DeleteYour Mola is looking beautiful, each addition makes it look even prettier!
ReplyDeleteBarbara xx
Thank you. I agree that the more colour that is added the better it looks.
DeleteLooks very artistic, but not my cup of tea. How are you planning to finish it?
ReplyDeleteIt's not my cup of tea either, but I am glad I tried this technique.
DeleteIt was supposed to be made into a bag, but I might make a cushion of it instead.
My mola has completely ground to a halt with so much else going on. Of course it didn't help to have to tidy up for guests and move all my colored fabric back to the dark cold upstairs.
ReplyDeleteI feel tempted to let my Mola grind to a halt, too.
DeleteAlthough I still don't like it, it is looking a bit better the more colour I add.
