It takes a bit time to get used to the pattern and design. Once you have learned where to insert the needle it becomes automatic and you don't want to stop. Best is to use Aida or a piece of fabric with a clear grid.
It IS a hard stitch to do free style, especially if you can not mark the fabric - and this piece of tailoring silk/wool was impossible to mark with ANY marker!!!

This is such a fun sample of stitches. Beautiful work!
