Friday Homework for Lesson 26: Zig-zag Stitch

This week there are evening lessons again here at Sunday Stitch School. I have had time to complete the homework, but no chance to hand it in, until this late hour.

Stitch 26, Zig-zag Stitch was easy, quick and fun. I had no problem whatsoever to fill in the allocated square, although this fabric has given me a lot of trouble with other stitches:
Wouldn't this grid be perfect for a garden scene where you need a lattice for rambling plants? Or fill in each blank space with some colourful thread and you would have a patchwork quilt!
This is a stitch to play with!

  1. The stitch looks good. Yes it would be nice if u add some beads in the empty space or a french knot will also work well. Queenie i like the way how u keep the focus on your plans. I will change my plans every now and then sticking on to a single project i am finding it very difficult.

    1. Thank you for your kind words,
I often plan, and change the PLANS before I put them into action. After that I try to stick to them. Unfortunately sometimes 'life gets in the way' and I have to break the promise I have made to myself. You know, other peoples' needs or the climate can obstruct everything you had meant to do.

  2. A row of this stitch is not too impressive. But the grid on Friday is pretty darned cool!

    1. Just one row looks very different from a grid of rows. Someone said it would a row of stitches would make a nice fence.

    1. I am sure this would be a good base for putting other stitches on top.

    1. So many comments about this garden theme, I think we will have to do something about it. WHERE is the time?

  7. I so agree this has worked so well and looks good on its own or has been suggested beads or french knots would work so well with it

    1. I think a lot of stitches would look great with this grid as a base.

  9. Using the zig-zag stitch as a filling stitch ..... I wouldn't have guessed it was the same stitch! As you say it would make a great fence!

    1. By filling a space with the same stitch over and over again, you get a totally different look than from a single row.

  10. I agree with all the comments. The sample really caught my eye. I've checked the work sideways, as well as way it is. I prefer your wider/shorter diamond version but can't explain why.
    Does it look softer?

    1. Did you see Chita's experiments? SHE make the stitch look so different by making it wider or narrower.
